Don’t Look Back In Anger

Song: Don't Look Back In Anger
Artist: Oasis

She knows it's too late as she's walking on by
My soul slides away
"But don't look back in anger," I heard you say

Looking back is a typical thing to do especially as we move through adult life. I'm doing it a lot these days. Missing important people. Wishing for certain things that I used to love. Right now, I'm focusing on some of the sad situations that frankly have shocked me. Many of them were deep heart connections that disconnected suddenly in ways I don't really understand and with little to no communication. For a long while, I tried to figure out what I did, and then I realized it might have had nothing to do with me. Separation sometimes is necessary for one's full life to expand. Some of us may be on a soul journey to learn about forgiveness and compassion which often comes after painful heart experiences. Even with that understanding, it's still challenging to lose that special person you used to play at life with.

I always think heart connection is better than a single heart. Two or more are better than one. Of course, it depends on the strength of the heart and the emotional health of the individuals involved. There's a lot of talk about the epidemic of loneliness that is growing in our country. Why is community so crucial and yet some people turn away and ostracize others? How can we make this better? We are all humans, and heart love is at the literal center of our experience.

Reflections

  • What important relationships do you need to check on?
  • Have people disappeared from your life for reasons you don't understand? Best friends?
  • If so, how have you resolved this often confusing, often heartbreaking, situation?
  • How do you love and support the friendships you hold dear?
  • How have you created a loving supportive community?

Try this

  • Find a group in your community that creates a hub of social activity for multi-generations.
  • Get a dog and go to the dog park. Chat with your neighbors as the dogs show us how to have fun lives.
  • Send a letter to say hello to a friend who you wish was in your life still.
  • Have a small dinner party or lunch and invite a couple new friends to meet your old friends.
  • Clear your heart space, ground to the Earth, refill with your beautiful energy. Do it every day for a week and see how you feel. Feel the full strength of your unique energy.
