Song: The Wind Cries Mary
Artist: Jimi Hendrix
The wind whispers, then it cries before it screams 'Mary'.

'Cause the life that lived is dead
And the wind screams
"Mary"
Today is a grey cold, cold day even though it's mid-May and right before summer. It's rainy here in typically dry, sunny Colorado as though it's winter in Northern California. Geographic references that mean something to my life. I've spent many winters and summers in both places. In the song, the wind first whispers, then it cries, then it screams. The song is a love song of some regret.
The force of nature - in the wind - is screaming to us to let go of the old life and choose a new way.
It's an unusual day. One I can't seem to get away from or in to. I'm told over and over by wise counsel to continue slowly and steadily towards my transformed self. Just don't slam on the brakes! Part of us gets scared when stepping into a new way. That part of us has the job of keeping us safe so it wants to control all the parts and never change. That part also is the vessel for our Spirit to come through with divine energy from our Higher Self, from God, from the Universe, from The Divine...the creative energy that brings transformation, inspiration, new ideas, new possibilities. Without the vessel, we would be blown away by the power and force of the energy of Spirit. Expanding the vessel allows more of this magical, spiritual energy to come through you for your highest purpose.
What I now know is that I'm being asked once again to dig deep to heal what is surfacing...maybe finally and forever. Today, THE DAY, is actually forcing me down a tunnel to become creative. All the options I tend to take to soothe my soul or to find inspiration are not available to choose today, at least in this moment. I feel annoyed, slightly agitated and grumpy. This new version of me is being called to focus on a creative task that I have put aside over and over.
Creative? Me? Not Me! Yes Me!
Stepping into my creative self has felt scary in the deepest of ways. It threatens all the comfortable, outdated ways of living and being that I have survived with so far. And yet, I've tasted the emotional release that can come from writing...Creativity can bring joyful energy to feed your body, mind and soul and help your heart to shine.
Reflections
- What are you avoiding? Side stepping?
- What part of you is coming to light?
You've worked hard to shed the old skin with its painful limitations, can you see clearly yet through your new eyes? - What task is the Divine calling you to?
How loudly does it need to roar before you will hear it? - What doors have slammed shut to lead you to your new world? Be grateful for the obviousness of the rejection.
- How can you feel the joy of your creative self today? What will you do?
